Personally, If it's going on the TV as a serious program, I would rather a white man play Buzz Aldrin A black man play Muhammad Ali A white woman play Margret Thatcher A black woman play Florence Griffith Joyner A white man play Hitler A black man play Idi Amin etc. Theatres or local plays, ok...but not TV or films that are supposedly based on fact. I do realise that...

To the best of my knowledge she wasn't - no.

Should a black actor be allowed to portray her?

Absolutely.

its factually incorrect^
What mamya so succinctly said.

I presume Henry VIII will be played by a tall, fat, ginger, syphillitic Uxoricide?
It's only factually incorrect if the makers of the programme try to tell the viewers that Ann Boleyn was black.....
Some odd comments underneath the report.
In particular the point about Rosa Parks being played by a white actor.
I don’t think Anne Boleyn’s colour mattered the way Rosa Parks’s did.
In any case this is a drama not a history lesson.

No, just a tall fat bloke or someone with a fat suit, but white, he was definatly white

so, imagine the uproar if white actors played famous historical black people.

Having a black actress play her does that.
Wot, like the Black & White Minstrel Show you mean?
They generally used to......with the liberal application of black pan-stick.
I don't get uproarious about casting decisions, it would largely depend on how well the character was portrayed.
///Having a black actress play her does that. ///

Not unless your mind already works like that, it doesn't.
Many “famous black people” are notable because of their race.
Mandela, Rosa Parks were mentioned.
That means their colour is more relevant to the part.
If the colour is not relevant it shouldn’t be an issue: either way
The late Queen Mother did not like helicopters and would never travel in one. Eventually she was persuaded to do so as it was the most convenient method of transport. To her surprise she actually enjoyed the experience and remarked, "The chopper has changed my life, as much as it did for Anne Boleyn".
Black wives matter
LoL, Doogie.....
“ The chopper has changed my life, as much as it did for Anne Boleyn".

Though it was a sword :-)
A different approach can be refreshing, take the recent Musical 'Six'

She'll need to white up... oh... no... actors and actresses changing skin colour by make-up isn't allowed, is it.
Any lady can play her as long as she has a little neck :o)
i know i always say "is this really news", but c'mon she was born 500 years ago. That really is olds!
