And I’m sure 2 glasses of wine hasn’t helped, but what the helll lol. I’ve got cancer, so although I drive you all mad I hope you will all still be here for me xx
A very good friend of ours had breast cancer around 15 years ago and she is doing just fine now. She didn't need to have her breast removed. I hope the outcome is equally good for you, Smow
I hope you get good feedback from mammogram/ biopsy and visit to breast team. ( though I’m assuming you have seen the medical staff re diagnosis. Good luck smow .
If you've not had a biopsy yet, then it could be nothing. My daughter had a scare several years ago. She was sorted with a biopsy super quick...all clear not long after.
Just read this. So sorry, Smow and, as you can see we are all here. I was worried a few years ago, but the mammogram came up clear and I'm still here - still with lump (some sort of cyst), so I have an idea of how you feel. As others have said, I've known several people with breast cancer and they are all still here years later. Good luck. x
May I just add to the outpouring of sympathy and support so evident amongst my fellow-Abers, and hope it helps you cope with this awful discovery. I also hope you manage to overcome it.
Smow -have you actually being diagnosed with Cancer by a consultant, or are you just presuming you have it because you have found a small lump and are worried because of your family history? It's very easy to jump to conclusions and I agree with Rowan that dramatic weight loss is not a symptom of early breast cancer. 45lbs is a lot to lose when you are not trying to and I would be more worried about that.
Sorry you have found a lump but, despite a family history, it might not be cancer. If you have not had them you need a consultation, mammogram and possibly a biopsy to give any diagnosis. If you have not had any of these then an appointment ASAP to put your mind at rest. If there is a long NHS delay consider going private. Wishing you wekk
I also wish you well in what is every woman's nightmare. I must admit I assumed from your post that you have already been given this diagnosis by a doctor?
Smow, I seem to remember back a number of months ago, you had great difficulty eating proper meals. You seemed to live on not very nutritious 'food'. If that continued, I'm not surprised you lost weight.
Do you know anything about the cancer - ductal, lobular? I doubt weight loss has anything to do with it. Aren't you in S London? You are handy for the Marsden at Sutton which is the best place (should you need it)
I am so glad that your GP and hospital were on the ball, my friend started reporting symptoms of bowl cancer months before lockdown has just been diagnosed stage 4!!
Tell your family you will need their support, also how will you hide the treatments?
