Covid. Long Lasting Effects On Lungs?

My daughter in law's Father has been in hospital 3 days with covid. His started with cough. Went into his lungs. Although getting better, after putting him on oxygen, steroids & antibiotics, Doctors have told him he has a shadow on his lungs, due to this virus. This is one of the after effects of covid. I wonder how this will affect him in the future?

I haven't read the link by woofy,but here are my I itial thoughts which may not be helpful.
Nobody knows at the moment, the exact nature of persistent chronic lung disease at the moment has it hasn't been round long enough for a study to be made.
One can only wait and see what the lung problem is and the extent of disability, if any.
Sorry but it is a matter at the moment of "wait and see ."

Long covid exists and prolonged lung involvement but it is far too early to say whether he will get it or not

basically if the shadow doesnt do anything they leave it
( having had one)

I am not sure if there are any pointers
- needed oxygen - well you dont get amitted unless you need it
- prolonged stay - of you are ill for a long time you stay ill
-need for ITU

but all that says is - if they are crap in hospital then they have a prologned convalescence which we kinda new anyway

the difficulty is that people who dont need hospital still are reporting debilitating long covid troubles

Film's Father came home last night. Has to stay on oxygen for 3 months! So glad he's home. A really nice chap. I think he's late 50s, so no age.
