Mum Still Not Right

As some of you know my Mum (84) has recently been in hospital with Covid phenomena.

She's been home 3 weeks now and is still not right. She's very confused, thinks im her neice who we have not seen since lockdown and today thought we were in the Cafe when obviously we were at home, she's like this most of the day.

I rang her GP who didn't sound bothered, said it can take a while to recover but I'm still worried, she wasn't like this before, she was lively and outgoing, especially for her age now i can't even hold a conversation with her.

sometimes in older people an injury or illness can cause a decline that was probably going to happen anyway. However, imo it would be worth while ruling out a urine infection

She is acting like an old person who has been in hospital,returned home and is now disoriented.
No big deal.....monitor the situation.

I agree it's worth getting a urine sample tested. UTIs have this affect too and she might just need some antibiotics.

How would you rule out a urinary infection here?

I still don't get it sorry. You take a urine sample to the GP to test, as ever. But I don't think that what you mean?

How do you get your sample ?
Where do you get a sample bottle?
Where do you take it?

Ah. Same as ever, sqad. It hasn't changed. GP will give you a kidney dish, sample pot etc, and you drop it back there. Covid hasn't stopped them, if that's what you meant.

But the GP has given his opinion and it didn't involve "dropping round" a kidney dish and a sterile bottle.
So I ask again,how is it helpful to advice the OPer to test her urine?

He doesn't need to drop them round. You ask at reception and they give them to you. You can check the boxes, confusing, cloudy, etc... take it back and ring for results.
