High Alkaline Phosphatase
4 Answers
Recent blood works showed a high Alkaline phosphatase of 180 and my GP called to say they would like to repeat my blood test in 2 weeks and if still high a liver scan and biopsy. Should I be worried? I don't drink excessively but I'm worried this is a cancer marker. I've been feeling very fatigued the last couple of months and my legs and hips are quite painful. I'm 55 y/o.

I had a low calcium too (and a high D-Dimer which was deemed to be infection-related) and my Immunologist friend told me to take calcium with Vitamin D and eat more protein. Would appreciate your thoughts...

Hi! LadyCG.....in a word...no idea.
The low albumin is caused by a low calcium and they tend to go hand in hand.
Many causes, for this but as you have been in hospital recently I would tend to agree with your friend that it is a post inflammatory state of affairs, possibly auto immune and I agree with his suggestion.
