This may sound and look like one of those ‘too many inane posts’ but believe me when you have a bird phobia it’s horrible !

On spiders, I had a paralyzing fear of them until I built an open-slatted shelf on which I could observe and examine them. The result was amazing, a rack, no phobia.

Can you get the trees cut down Bobbs?
Question Author
To be fair to the guy who’s trees they are, he’s busy getting estimates to get them cut down but to a person who’s terrified of birds, the loud flapping of their wings as they swoop in the trees,is awful
I can imagine. Don't have a phobia about birds at all, but I wouldn't be happy in that situation.
Could you net over your garden so you could sit outside knowing the birds can’t get you
Question Author
And all the platitudes from himself like
“ Dont be silly, they won’t hurt you”
He’s likely to get hit with a bliddy frying pan :0(
MM I think it could be the noise that the birds make that is one of the things Bobbs is scared of.
The problem is even he he cut the tree there are still going to be birds flapping and squawking and flying about
Question Author
They’re nesting in those tree , the noise is deafening
Bobbisox - I empathise entirely with your bird phobia - I'm the same. However, although we have loads of wood pigeons and collared doves that come and go in our garden, they don't come anywhere near me. It's the pesky robin who lands within a foot of me when I'm gardening that sends me running and screaming indoors. I've just despatched my husband to a small patch in the garden that needs weeding but I can't do it as there are blackbirds nesting and feeding young in an adjacent laurel tree. Bird-lovers really don't understand our problem!
Bobbs, here's a suggestion.
See if you can go to visit an aviary and look at it from a distance.
Keep going to the aviary and each time, go a bit closer to it until you can one day go right up to it and watch the birds close up.
I've found in the past that the only way to get over a fear, is to gradually confront it.

Thank you Diddly , I understand that birds will be flying ( that’s their job) I’m hoping when he gets the trees down to 5 foot ,is what he’s saying although I’ve asked for them to be cut to the top of the trellis work on the back of my decking , that the wood pigeons will go somewhere else, my outside table and chairs need cleaned every day fro bird poo
Question Author
I think I’d be okay with that Barsel because the birds are ‘inside’
Perhaps visit a pets corner where there is an aviary and as you say, the birds are in large cages and you never know, you might get to eventually like them.:-)
Why not as I suggested turn your garden into an aviary but you are inside?
Question Author
I don’t dislike them and couldn’t hurt one , I’m just terrified of them as one would be of spiders for example
Bobbs, I saw a programme once about people who have a fear of spiders and to me, that is quite rational as is your fear of birds, but the people in the prog were introduced to spiders very gradually and by the end of the prog, could have one on their hand! I couldn't do that, but it really is a good way to get over a fear.
Question Author
I have no fear of spiders ,I think my fear is the wings flapping , I feel as if the are going to descend on my shoulder or head, it’s irrational I know but so so scary
Try what I have suggested and I bet one day you could get a budgie of your own and it would land on your head or shoulder, and it wouldn't bother you at all.
You could even take up bird watching! :-)
So 'Wendy' the Woodpigeon sobs to her cousin, Woody, "Just been evicted." "Who by?" asks an irate Woody. "Well, he chopped the tree down, but she's the one that made him do it." Woody stares at Bobbisox long and hard. "Right," he growls. Gets on his mobile and calls his friend Walter Pigeon. "Hi, Walt, do me a favour, bro, can you get a group of guys together. The more the merrier. Some witch has just had our Wendy evicted and you know she's preggers, don't you. How many? Hundreds, great. Yeah, mate, i'll send you the co-ordinates. We'll teach that woman a lesson."
You're for it now, Bobs :-)
