Sick Of All These Selfish People

wanting restrictions to be lifted just so they can get married or go to a nightclub. How would they feel if all their guests got Covid and then spread it? Are weddings really that important? Is a night out in a crowd of sweaty drunks so crucial?

Selfish?
Good. I'm glad to be thinking about my mental health.
If my guests got covid it'd be on them, not me.
You can't baby the world with dummys and bottles.

Except it is much wider than that isnt it.
G7 - see any unsocial distancing or quarantining (except for an 'official' photo)? No because the figures just dont warrant it.
What about the wages lost and the taxes lost? I guess you are sitting pretty and would like us locked down forever.
My 91 yr old mother has more grit to her than you it seems.

The problem here is, Covid is a problem you cannot see.
Because people are subconsciously distanced from the virus and its impact, it is an easy leap for them to want to release all restrictions.
If they had to walk past a Covid ward on their way to and from work, their attitude would be different, but they don't.
They can't see it, so it's easy enough to think that it doesn't matter.
Of course it does, but this is what leads to the thought processes of the 'selfish people' of which you speak.

"Wow, I rest my case!"
People need to take accountability for themselves and their own situations and health if I'm vaccinated and healthy and want to have a ceremony if someone is venerable, not vaccinated etc.. etc.. it'd be on them not to come. Not on me for inviting them.
I know a lot of people I have a lot of friends I honestly can't pander to each ones individual health and needs. They need to do it for themselves.

roopower - // Unfortunately, being fully vaccinated doesn't mean we are entirely safe. //
It doesn;t - but complete imunity from any virus has never been and in our lifetime never will be an option we can enjoy.
It's about assessing the risks against the benefits, and on that basis, I see the unlock as going ahead - the government has done all it reasonably can to protect the majority of the population, it's time to start assimilating Covid into our lives, along with all the other viruses we live with.

Pixie I agree they are not the only reasons, but they are the ones that I feel are particularly selfish only worrying about their wedding which could be held at any time. What urgent reason is there to get married on a certain date - the days of a father with a shotgun have long gone. And we know that those who want to go to nightclubs are hardly likely to be socially distanced.
I suspect that the OP is of a certain age when their clubbing days are long gone, might have gotten married, maybe had children, formed friendships, had a variety of jobs, etc - ie enjoyed a full and varied life and those that haven’t want their crack at it now. I don’t think it’s selfish, I think it’s perfectly understandable.
