Any suggestions for getting fluids down an 18 month old with the above? He’s not keen on anything much at the moment, not surprising as he has three blisters in his mouth.
He’s perky enough in bursts although eating very little. Just wish we could get a little more fluid down him. He has sucked a bit of ice cube.
Thanks.

Yoghurts are the easiest consistency to swallow, jelly, milky drinks, milkshakes... just to help him get something.
Make jelly ice cubes to suck. Any fruit ice lollies or even frozen milk lollies. Letting him help make might also help

We’ve tried all of those, there’s a complete reluctance to put anything in his mouth, even his favourite plain yogurt. He’ll have a tiny sip of water or juice, which we keep offering, but not much else.
Thanks for the suggestions, I was hoping someone would have a miracle cure :)
Miracle cure= patience
Sounds like you've tried most things, have you tried a straw?

He'll bounce back soon enough am sure.
Jelly??
Question Author
Indeed calmck, in spades!
Thank goodness for Calpol, might buy a few shares...
Yep, mamy, tried a straw, won’t even put it near his mouth, must be very sore.
Pokes jelly but has never liked the texture.
Patience, patience & more patience. He’s not lethargic, just clingy and wingy, blisters in his mouth and on hands & feet, and rash on legs, arms and bottom.
Bless him, so uncomfortable.
Have you got the syringe thing from a bottle of Calpol? Perhaps you could squirt water into his mouth little and often.
How about homemade ice cream?
You could make healthy flavours out of fruit and veggies.
Squirt juice to. Make it a game and let him do it to you

Thank you so much for the further suggestions, I think we’re just going to have to wait till the blisters have subsided.
He managed a couple of strands of spaghetti with a bit of pesto, and has just had some very cold milk in a bottle to settle him after his bath, and is now, fingers crossed, asleep for a few hours.
Wouldn’t you just do anything for them when they’re poorly?
