Stoma Reversal

My hubby has just had a reversal. He is so weak. He is at home but very tired and spends most of the day in bed sleeping. In your experience normal. TIA

He had a bowel tumour in December which was removed without any chemo or radiotherapy needed so had a stoma bag fitted. This was reversed last Thursday. Many thanks Sqad.

Early days yet, he needs time to recover - it can take a few weeks in total to get back to normal activities.

Zylaphone, our neighbour had a similar thing although he needed chemo and part of his liver removed too.
His surgeon wasn’t keen on reversing the stoma but our neighbour insisted so it was done.
I’m sorry I don’t know how he was immediately post op but here we are, seven years later and he’s great. He’s 73, has a very physical volunteer job, does all his own decorating, and pre COVID he and his wife travelled extensively.

Getting back to normal activities is the easy bit, he has the whole process to get over, not just the most recent surgery. Most of the time he may seem fine but he may have unexpected bad days for months, just reaction and normal. Even Cancer survival takes a toll, and while he will hopefully be grateful and relieved all sorts of things can go through his head, sometimes without any reason.
