Daughter and her husband anc their two friends decide to have a weekend in Edinburgh and travel by train, male friend reaches to put something in the bin in the carriage ,something extremely sharp slices through his finger , blood everywhere,he’s type one diabetic and has a hypo, first aid kit on train is well out of date and no good to stem the flow of blood, he goes out cold, someone kindly gets a tin of coke to bring him round , train reaches Waverley where staff had radioed ahead for a wheelchair ,him and his partner are taken by taxi to A&E meanwhile my daughter and son in law look for booked hotel, go into one across from station , same name wrong hotel , theirs was at Haymarket , paid a tenner to get there, hotel is a shizzhole with a view of a car park being built , raining and no seats to book the bar because of tonight’s match….oh dear :0(

No this is bad luck, motorcyclist in collision thrown over hedge into muddy field, just as he thinks that was lucky he is run over by a tractor that couldn't stop in time.

Yes he survived. In itu for a few days, the tractor mostly pushed him into the mud and it missed his head and chest

This is the abridged version of one of my first ever posts on AB. Friend of mine walked to pick wife up from her barmaid job. 2 yobs accosted him, one broke an Autumn Gold cider bottle and slashed him across the neck. He survived, but another cm or 2 and he would've probably died. DHSS saw story in the paper, friend wasn't declaring wife's earnings from her 2 nights pw. He got done and fined.
FF; his young son started a house fire early morning playing with matches and a teddy bear. Wife and baby died in fire.
FF; In a new relationship when a lorry ploughed into his house. Luckily, his partner was four steps up on her way to put kids to bed. Front of lorry stopped at 3rd step.
FF; His youngest daughter and her friend squeezed through a hole in the garden fence on to a nearby property which had a swimming pool. Alarm was raised when both girls fell into water, my mate dived in, saw a mass of blonde hair through the stagnant, pitch black water and pulled the child out. It was his neighbour's child, his died.
FF; He got a job maintaining the railway lines and, along with another guy, was hit and killed by a safety truck.

I know that when people are suffering whatever ill-luck, the fact that someone else is suffering (or has suffered much more) is scant comfort, but i always think of Dave when things aren't going smoothly, Bobbi. Puts things into perspective.

I'd be really interested to learn how someone who's out cold could be brought round with cocker. I'm serious because my husband had a hypo this week and would not have been able to drink. If you can do it with coke somehow could you let me know? We always have coke here but I couldn't use it. Perhaps you could ask your daughter for me? If there was a choice between using out of date pads and bandages or carrying on bleeding I think I'd take the out of date stuff though. It is crap the kit was out of date though
It is a shame for them because Edinburgh is beautiful. I spent the first night if my honeymoon there and think of it very fondly :)
