Daughter In Hospital Bacterial Throat Infection

My daughter had to be taken into hospital this morning, with a nasty throat infection. She felt her throat was closing up and couldn't breath properly. She's never known such a sore throat. Like swallowing glass.
Doctor has put her on a stronger antibiotic intravenously, after initially being given Pencillin, also steroid, and anti sickness drug.. She has been so poorly. Doctor said if no I.provement tomorrow, they will put camera down throat, as it's probably gone deep. I'm so worried about her. Can anyone put my mind at rest?

Daughter put on ICU ward last night. Done a ct scan, and camera up her nose. Found she had lump in neck. Thought it was abcess but turned out to be lymph nodes. Such a stressful night for all.
Anyway, the drugs have kicked in and they've given her codeine and Ibuprofen, which has worked a treat. She has been able to sleep and had some lunch. So things are looking up. She will stay in another day and take it from there. So relieved..

Thank you everyone.
They let her out this afternoon. She was glad to go home. No sleep at night because of noise from the elderly shouting & coughing! She was very lucky to get a bed. She had the last one.
Strange thing, this morning, she expelled something horrible from her throat, It was brown like a load of string! Doctors took it away to have it analysed. She felt as if the pressure from her throat had suddenly gone! Anyway they will let her know next day or two. They thought it abcess at first, but wasn't.
If sqad is around, any idea what was expelled from her throat??

The most likeliest thing would be a mucous crust of throat lining similar to a"bogey" from the nose.
She's home early but Allison well that ends well.
