Weeping Eyes

I read somewhere from a person who said they had been told by their doctor that lying with a hot facecloth over the eyelids for a few minutes 3 times a day was beneficial for this problem.
Has anyone tried it - to any avail ?
Eyedrops recommended by the ophthalmic optician just seem to make the problem worse.

It was he who gave me the eyedrops, but reading 'Dr Google' I am told that there are different types & some can in fact exacerbate the problem. As I remember, the warm flannel was to encourage the natural chemical properties of the eye surface.
237SJ ; Do you have link & do you know of anyone who has used it please?

sqad; Sorry I perhaps used the wrong title, it wasn't a 'glasses shop'. I went to an 'Augenarzt' literally an eye-doctor - Augen = eye, Arzt = doctor.
I suppose I could go back, but due to covid & the summer, I had waited 2 months to get my appointment.
Anyway, I was hoping that there was a more natural was of improving the problem rather the sticking chemicals into one's eyes.

Sqad, do you not have optometrists in the UK? Whenever a question regarding eye problems arises on AB, the term optician is used. In Canada this is the role of an optician: "An optician (sometimes known as a "dispensing optician") is a fully trained vision care technician who specializes in fitting eyeglass lenses, frames, contact lenses, and other vision correction devices." An optometrist here has a post secondary education of 7 to 8 years and is called a Doctor of Optometry, and is sort of one step down from an ophthalmologist who, of course, is a medical doctor.
This is the role of am optometrist:
Provide an optometric eye exam to examine, assess, measure and diagnose disorders and diseases within the human eye and visual system, such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration;
Recognize and co-manage related systemic conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and brain tumors;
Most can prescribe medications (this varies by province – so ask your Doctor of Optometry for details);
Remove foreign bodies from the eye;
Provide referrals to secondary specialists, such as ophthalmologists, for treatment of systemic disease or eye surgery when necessary;
Co-manage pre- and post-operative care for laser vision correction;
Co-manage ocular diseases with ophthalmologists; and
Conduct research and promote education and advancement in the visual sciences.

I don't know if this is the reason for your problem but I was told by the optometrist that I have dry eyes and it can be because the oil in the glands is not flowing properly. Warming the eyes can soften it somewhat. I bought a mask but only used it a couple of times because the main part of my problem was that something in the composition of my contact lenses had changed by the manufacturer and that is why my vision was a bit blurred. The one I bought was called Eye Doctor.
