A Yes Or No Will Do

We have tried to convince that the vaccine is the only tool in the box at the moment, and works pretty good. But for the ones that still refuse for no good reason, should the powers that be notify them that if they require hospital treatment for covid, and they are not vaccinated, that they will be required to pay a private health care rate or at least part rate? Sounds a bit harsh may be, but its harsh on folk waiting on other treatment.

Sqad The OP did not mention anyone being turned away Just additional costs Which is already happening in other countries for the unvaccinated

Anyway.... whilst I can see some arguments for charging for it it just aint gonna happen, its a dead duck.... it'd never get throughparliament- Tories rebels would be against it, some Labour would say it discrimanates against the poor and favour the rich.... and there would be all the exemptions that would have to be given for those on pension credit or universal credit, and what about those who refuse to pay.... we never gonna just let them die
> I can see conflicts there- why should we get things like cosmetic surgery, sex change ops even IVF or some weight loss or methadone free but have to pay for covid ICU treatment
Because "we" exercised our choice to not be vaccinated and pay for treatment if it was subsequently needed. Of course, that choice would need to be clearly laid out in advance, not sprung on people.

You cannot charge people Income Tax that pays for the NHS, then refuse them medical care because they smoke, drink, take recreational drugs, eat to excess, take no exercise or don’t have a vaccine.
That is not how the health system works.
Driving a car or motorbike carries known risks. If users of those transports are in an accident, you cannot refuse them treatment.

Last week 'they' convinced the gullible that 80/90% of people in hospital were unvaccinated.
Now, the same people say 25%. (see Roy's link)
No wonder people with low IQ's are confused.

Lies again
What they actually said was that the vast majority of patients in critical care or icu beds were unvaccinated
In some areas it was 90% of the patients in those itu settings but anywhere between 70 and 90
For the hard of understanding itu and critical care requires the most manpower and/or the use of ventilators and expensive medicines and one to one nursing
Do you understand now mastermind ?

Always a weak argument
Drivers and motorcyclists are required to wear a seatbelt or crash helmet
It is the covid equivalent to getting the vaccine
It really is that simple
Imagine how many more lives would have been saved and other patients would have got their cancer operations if the vaccine was mandatory like seat belts and helmets ?

Gromit, you have drawn a faulty analogy and then run with it. Other analogies are available.
Suffice to say that I don't see our Government announcing that those who have refused to be vaccinated will be charged for their treatment from say 1 March onwards, so there's really not a lot to add to this discussion.

//33% of the population are unvaxed. 25% of Covid patients are unvaxed.
Mmmm. Don't need to be the Oxford Regis Professor of Mathematics to work that one out, do you.//
I dont need my GCSE maths to know that your figure of 33% unvaxxed for the population is wrong for starters. UK population (including babies and youngsters under 12) is 67.2 million. If 33% are unvaxxed that means 67% are vaxxed. 67% of 67.2 million is 45 million. And yet allmost 52 million first doses have been given.... so your figures cant be right (unless of course the goverment/NHS are lying about the doses).
But for the age groups eligible 90% have had the first jab. So its 10% unvaxxed for over 12s. As ICU cases is almost all over 12 years -not babies of primary school children- its better to just look at over 12s.
Now as to roys claim that only 25% of patients in hospital are unvaccinated that is based on the Mail report of just 800 omicron patients ... which is just a tiny fraction of all covid patients...and reallly just confirms what was said all along that for omicron the booster is the key... one jab aint enough
