I go and sleep in the spare room so often now that I might as well be in there !
I get so hot at night in bed that I have to have the ceiling fan on, even tho our bedroom radiator is turned off and already cool, and even tho I hardly wear anything, I’m still always boiling hot , so much so that I cannot get a wink of sleep without the fan on. But after a while MrSnow admitted he absolutely hated it on. So I started trying to persevere with the fan on but just couldnt cope with being so hot, so I would start the night in our bed, but after an hour or so I would end up going into spare room where there is a huge pedestal fan, and I would finally get some much needed sleep. Now I end up in there most nights.
I suspect that this extreme being hot is largely down to what I assume is me going thru the menopause but whether it is or not we still have completely different sleeping preferences now - he hates the fan in and I need it on.
I just always feel bad going into a separate room, even tho I know that’s silly to think that.
Anyone else sleep separately a lot from their OH?

We’ve never slept separately but I have friends for who it’s the norm
No, we sleep together. Your problem is probably the menopause - I soaked sheets with sweat,.
I do know some couples who sleep separately. First lot because of his heavy snoring and the others because they were long divorced and used to living and sleeping alone.
I'd hate it - but I have contemplated it when MrJ2 has a nightmare and lashes out (not often thank goodness).
As long as you both understand why you are doing it and you talk it through, I think you'll be OK.
My arthritis is so bad at the moment that I want the electric blanket on at 'low' all night - it makes the difference between sleeping and spending the night snatching naps between almost crying with pain. Mr. J2 is bravely putting up with the heat at the moment.
Good luck - perhaps you should ask your doctor about the heat?
yes, for years, always worrying about being restless and waking the other one up. OH is long-term ill and needs all possible sleep.

Menopause is long behind us but I seem to have an erratic body thermostat regardless. My temperature bears no resemblance to the one on the thermomenter.

I was convinced he didn’t know when I slept in the spare room as he’s such a heavy sleeper, & I would(and still do) always creep back into our bed before his alarm went off, till he said to me “ I do know youve been in the spare room for most of the night” and laughed.
I'm single... but would certainly want that in future lol. I don't think it is reasonable to expect adults to share a room. It's better for you both to be comfortable and sleep. It may be temporary, but I think it probably suits a lot of people to sleep separately.
I get like that at times, Smow. Plus, OH coughs a lot, has always suffered with cattarrh, plus, he snores sometimes, and its like sleeping with a ferret! I've never known such a fidget.
I did sleep in spare room for a few weeks not so long ago. I actually like it. My OH gets upset and lonely, so I'm back in with him....for a while :-)
Yes, husband and I sleep separately and I love it! He is like a massive radiator and snores like I don’t know what. I love sleeping alone (but with my cat).
Mine was very fidgety and a bad sleeper. Now I sleep with 5 dogs... never slept better :-)
We sleep together unless we have a cold or are unwell, then we argue who sleeps in the spare room! If you can’t get your OH to keep you warm at night, then what is the point of his being there!

Honestly don’t think he minds at all - he’s not a cuddler, and always sleeps on his stomach so makes no odds to him if I’m in the bed or not when he’s sleeping lol.
So Smow, just have separate rooms. It’s so nice and you can still creep in for whatnot ;)
Yeh I sleep on the right "she who must be obeyed" sleeps on the left. We rarely sleep one on top of the other now. :))
What, you mean bunk beds, Togo?..
No never, always together.

Bunk beds lol…..

We cuddle in the morning at the weekend when we wake up as he doesn’t have to get up early for work lol,
Only when we are on holiday Patsy. I practice my ladder technique before we travel.
Hi Smow. I used to have terrible hot flushes. I started to take Red Clover Blossom from Piping Rock. They certainly helped me. You have to go on line to Pipingrock.com
Since our youngest left. We have separate bedrooms. My wife’s is clean and pretty. Mine is full of bookcases and me. We much prefer our own spaces. 49 years together, now a king size bed each. Besides, I snore sometimes.
Dave and I did, mainly because he had the loudest snore I have ever heard, even in the spare room I needed ear plugs.
Yes we have our own bedrooms. Mine is tidy and pretty, Mr.Sam's is tidy, but full of fishing gear displayed. Both he and I snore and I am a very poor sleeper who sometimes reads or listens to podcasts in the middle of the night. We have been together 47 years so need a bit of space now !
