I gave up smoking once...... lasted for about 6 months then I was back on them again. Kicking the chemical addiction was fairly straightforward, it was the pyschological dependancy that was more difficult, especially when going out to pubs etc.
Also, I think it helps if you genuinely wish to give up... I only wanted to become a social smoker ;)
One small hint - when you've thrown the fags away and ditched the ashtrays etc, spring clean the house, car, wherever you smoked before, make sure all your clothes are washed/dry cleaned and even try to get the curtains and soft furnishings cleaned to remove the smell of tobacco - this turned out to be the secret for my sister. Good luck.
I havn't really got any new resolutions only to find a permanent job. I have been temping for a while because I am waiting to move house to a different area.
I hope you pack up smoking. It is such an awful waste of money and you are risking your health too and your beauty. I know someone who got some tablets from the doctor, its a new idea and they really worked for him.
Good luck. If they banned it in public places it would help everybody. You can see I am a non smoker but banning it would help you by making you cut down. Work out how much you spend and put the money towards a good holiday.
