if you have to take a medicine half an hour before food, how long AFTER food should it be?

I think a general rule is 2 hours, specific meds may have more precise rules.

Not sure what you are getting at.
For me, it would mean after I had finished my meal.

i thought my q might cause confusion. i have to take medicine (due now) "half an hour before food", which i presume emans on an empty stomach. However, due to being extraordinarily crap, i just ate my lunch, meaning i now have a full tummy, so i cant really call it 1/2 an hour before food

Advice I've had if it supposed to be on an empty stomach is either half an hour before food or 2 hours after.

If you are eating meals very close together then you'll just have to gauge it the best you can.

I misunderstood then, it may be worth asking the Pharmacist how to space the pills out given your sparse eating at the moment.

We used to reckon anything after 2 hours was ok unless we knew the person had slow gastric emptying them we used to allow 4. ( or the docs might prescribe metoclopramide an anti sickness med that makes the stomach empty quicker, however it's unlikely you would have any lying around!)

three hours is the normal starvation period = you now have an empty stomach

pure cold well water empties immediately - hardly food xc for a hermit. a fat meal _ milk, cream etc is slower but should be out by three hours

It does not matter when after food. The ruling means it is only important for before food.
