Hi Lady - I would like your advice please.
Sister has now got an appointment for cataract removal on Thursday. Hopefully hospital transportation has been confirmed - I'll know later on.
She is insisting she doesn't need help when she gets home. She has to go down 10 steps to get to her house and then she says she will "bathe her eye" and go on about her business.
I told her that I would wait for her in her house. Why - I'll be alright.
I know Lady you got this done on your own - were you ok at the time and how are you now. Thanks

They put an eye mask over the operated eye and I was told to sleep with it on but to remove it the next morning. She will be given drops, enough for a couple of weeks and the instructions to go with it. Definitely wouldn't let her go down all those steps on her own and it would be nice if you could sit with her for a while, if she'll let you, just to put your mind at rest.
Me? I'm a PITA. Rub my eyes in my sleep after stroking my dog (he sleeps with me). I know this because I wake up rubbing them. Tell her not to rub her eye no matter how much it itches because my eye is still not OK. It's all my own fault. BUT the sight out of that (left) eye is brilliant and shows up the other one as everything has a yellow hue with my right one. That's due to be done in 3 weeks.
Op doesn't hurt BTW. Good Luck to her. xx

Good for you bobbie, most people as I said are fine. I also had a taxi there and back and live alone except for my mutt. Like you I got on with my tasks for the evening. I wouldn't have liked to go down 10 steps though especially if they are steep and I think jj will feel better watching out for her. There are a few people who are not OK sometimes after their op so better to be safe than sorry is all I'm saying:-))
A friend of mine also has hers done, she too went on her own by taxi, came back on her own by taxi and looked after herself for the time it took. I was quite proud of her, but unlike your sister jj, there were no steps to negotiate and I think it's wise of you to insist on helping under those circumstances.
