Would a course of Amoxcillin clear up my blepharitis? It’s quite bad at the moment and going on holiday this week. Many thanks.

No smurfy I would not advice antibiotics by mouth at this stage.

1% chloromycetin cream after cleaning your eyes before bedtime and then smearing the cream. Just once a day should clear it up. This can be obtained OTC.
I use an eye bag which I heat up in the microwave for 40 seconds and keep on my closed eyes for two minutes before massaging upper and lower lids to get the viscose tears going again. And then use hypromelose eye drops throughout the day.
My eyes are quite bad at the moment too, I’ve put it down mainly to all the tree pollen around not helping the blepharatis.

I use vita pos - viscose doo-dah is different and I just getting used to that
NHS is having a prescribing spazzy at the moment and vita pos is off and viscose gel is on!
dunno what was in it but Golden Eye Ointment always seemed to work wonders back in the day
^^^^ Apparently it contained mercury & was discontinued but has been revived with a different formulation.

Well today I have tried Optrex Cloramohenicol (I had conjunctivitis last week as well), plus an antihistamine, cold compress, warm compress. They seem better now, fingers crossed, but I don’t know what did the trick!
