Will The Tories Learn From Yesterday?
39 Answers
Hopefully the drubbing they received yesterday spurs them into action.
Net zero, hundreds crossing the Channel daily, rising inflation, highest taxes for yonks rising interest rates and unaffordable fuel is what the voters want.
Johnson could still sort this and go on to win the next election but it must be actions not just hollow words and soundbites. Net zero must go, for the UK that is a big contributor to many if what I have highlighted, but can the Prime Minister stand up to his wife?
Interesting times to come maybe?

The Tories have lost 6 councils and Labour have gained 4.
As the results continue to come in I suspect it will get a bit worse, but for a mid-term slap in the face, it's not that bad really.
Mind you, I don't have a dog in the fight because (a) I never vote in local elections because I genuinely believe it matters not a jot the colour of the council, they're all inefficient/incompetent and (b) where I live they could put a blue rosette on a piece of cheese and it would win.

The country is just emerging from a global pandemic and having been a world leader in the race for vaccines and rollouts, and having propped up businesses and those who couldn't work quite admirably, the government is now dealing with the expected result. Furthermore, Ukraine is under attack and the stability of Europe is threatened by a madman, France is taking the pee, and plans are therefore afoot to deal differently with arriving illegals, and any government in this day and age is going to champion the quest to defeat global warming so you’re whistling in the wind if you want that to stop. Apart from borrowing Jeremy Corbyn's wonky magic wand that he took with him when he was so unceremoniously booted out, and giving that a wave, I really don’t know what you expect. With the left finding anything and everything to criticise the government for and putting the boot in at every opportunity, surely if anyone needs to learn lessons it's the abysmal offering that is Labour. I imagine they're very disappointed indeed this morning. And they had such high hopes too - which demonstrates just how pathetically ineffectual and out of touch they really are. Ah well ... that’s that done. Onwards.
Naomi, whilst I dont disagree with what you have said I think you are missing the mood of middle England. Yes there have been challenges but they are compounded by Johnsons Green agenda amongst other things. People are now angry and it will get worse as money tightens.
Name one think in my list above that you don't consider is what the voters want.
