Man At Bus Stop Getting On My Nerves
12 Answers
I work 6am to 2pm in a hospital and therefore get the second bus of each day. There is a guy at the bus stop who has been very kind holding the bus driver back for me when I have had to run for this particular bus some mornings and we’ll just say ‘good morning’ etc when we get to the bus stop.
He’s been no bother and we’ll mention bus timetables and prices of fares - at 5.25 in the morning I hardly have any energy to converse anyway especially in the cold, damp and dark! Anyway, we discussed the costs of train fares versus bus fares, and I told him I sometimes get the tube after the bus and sometimes not and how I want to save money and will often stay on the bus instead. Now that it’s lighter I get the bus part-way and then get the tube in for the rest of the journey – my choice.
When I saw him this morning he said, “I was wondering where you were on the bus yesterday, as the bus said it was terminating at a certain place and we all had to get off and you weren’t there” (he sits upstairs, and I sit down). I just said, “Oh yeah, I get the train some mornings now after this bus, so I wasn't on it when that happened obviously” and he said, “Even though you’re trying to save money you said on the train by getting the bus instead?”
He’s getting on my nerves and all I want to do is to complete my journey into work in my own way/time/finance choices. I don’t know the guy from Adam, nor him me. Shall I just ignore him now in future as I can’t be bothered with conversations of such a petty nature?

Just don’t feel you have we to explain your travel choices or tell him any more than you are happy with.

I do the same - if there are usual passengers not there when the bus come, if I spot them coming I’ll say to the driver. Others do that for me.
There are numerous people I only know on the bus - some I know the names of, some not, and in some cases only their first names.
Its the nature of bus travel.
