Watched the Raducanu v Garcia match and was quite impressed with the solid display by the Frenchwoman. Did have to mute the sound though because both female commentators were getting on my wick with their OTT Partisanship - Raducana was 'Emma, while Garcia was, er, 'Garcia'.
Just seen the opening of the BBC News and even on there they're at it; "Emmad Raducana is outgunned by Garcia" read the newsreader.

Shows a lack of respect imho.

Some mistake, surely. Garcia was constantly referred to as "Caroline" in my hearing anyway, was graciously applauded by the commentators for his tennis and affectionately interviewed afterwards.

Ich, i had the sound on for about 10 minutes in the first set and in that time, i only heard the word 'Caroline' mentioned once. It was also suggested that 'Emma' was struggling with the windy conditions? Was the wind only blowing in whatever half of the court she happened to be playing in?

ken it was only that I happened to note it: and thought, well, that's nice.
I also noticed (as I am not v observant normally -- or am forgetful) that the umpires use the players' full names except when calling the score, of course "Miss, Ms and Mrs (and professor)" having long been discarded.

I have now got BBC2 on and, in the last few minutes alone, i've heard 'Isner' 4 or 5 times and 'Andy Murray' half a dozen times. Andrew Castle being the main culprit.
Just used the 'mute' button again :-))

If he’s to maintain that record it’s got to be the hard way having just gone 0-2 in sets.
