Lump Along Jaw Line

Over night I seem to have had a quite painful lump appear along my jawbone. I was fine when I went to bed, but when I washed my face this morning it really hurt.
The pain/tenderness goes down my neck a little from the jaw bone (near my chin). The lump feels about the size of a marble (probably smaller).
Anyone have a clue what this could be? Thank you.

Almost certainly an inflamed lymph node.
Have you had an infection on your face or scalp in the las t few days, which would account for the gland?

Thank you for the reply Squad.
No, no infection at all. The only thing that has been a little unusual is very dry skin on my face, mostly forehead and around the eye area, nothing at all as low as the jawline.

Sat here thinking, and remembered that a few times lately - whilst eating - a sort of 'clicking' of the jaw, and a momentary discomfort, but that was more on the left side of my jaw, whilst this is on the right. Just a thought.
Thanks ferlew, we may have to wait and see what transpires.

Happy to report that the lump started to shrink over the last couple of days, and now is barely discernible.
