Reasons To Kind Of Be Cheerful But At A Cost
22 Answers
1. My mechanic neighbour took my car to have a new windscreen spray pump fitted
2. Builder came round to look at the garden wall which collapse during the Feb storms and gave me a quote. Hes starting my work on fence on Monday
3. Noticed a load of wasps flying in and out under a panel on my annex wall. Called pest control who came round this morning and sprayed under the panel and now they are no more. They were starting to appear inside the annex so had to be dealt with.
4. Little Tigs has been at his dad's since Tuesday but I've been working so haven't had much time to relax. He's back tomorrow so better make the most of my Saturday morning!
5. Had a sore throat on Wednesday which is now a cold. Blocked and runny nose, headache and body ache. Nothing to be cheerful about but thought I'd add it in anyway, lol

If he's a proper builder, he'll start work on Monday but then have to finish off another client's job on Tuesday. He'll return on Wednesday but only for long enough to say that he needs to get hold of the right materials. You then won't see him until the end of next week, when he'll do a bit of work before telling you that he's off to Ibiza for a fortnight. When he returns from holiday, he'll need to "attend to another little job that came up while I was away" first. After he's spent a week or two doing that (and, no doubt, working for lots of other people too), he'll finally return to finish the work on your fence. As soon as he's done so, he'll bill you for three times his original estimate, while making excuses about the ever-rising cost of materials these days. If you don't settle his bill within 24 hours, he'll then immediately send you a very nasty letter that threatens to take you to court over non-payment of his bill.
Aren't our tradesmen wonderful?

Chris - you got that right there - they have started my neighbour's extension about two weeks now and as you say - came one day done a bit of digging - went away - another squad came - done a bit.
There's a big ugly skip (I live in quite a tiny cul-de-sac), they have a bus that carries maybe 24 kiddies through the week, daughter has a car, wife has a jeep and visitors come by the buckets.
It is so difficult for me to manoeuvre my car out - they know it too. God knows how long this extension will take - my other neighbour is a builder - he reckons 3 months - I give it 6.
Have to look at a building site for 3-6 whole months.
