Hybrid Dr's Surgery

Had cause to be at the Dr's today and they have a lovely poster up explaining at how successful the hybrid way of working is
April - June 19 Saw 4897 patients and 758 phone consultations
April - June 21 Saw 7432 patients and 1029 phone consultations

But - I cannot help but think that they would be in a better position if their time keeping was better - my appointment for was for 1015 I was seen at 1035.

What are you thoughts?

I have never had an issue with getting an appointment - even through COVID issues
My issue is their time keeping so early into the day is poor - there was no other patients with the person I was seeing as I asked what the delay was!

I can't help thinking that if someone else asked this question the responses would have been totally different!

My GP still does home visits before surgery, that can cause him being late for the first appointment of the day

Do they also have a poster about not tolerating abusive or aggressive behaviour but miss out the part about how patients will just have to put up with surliness, evasion and sometimes downright lies from counter staff?

It's a staggeringly inefficient system and still looks for praise just for performing contracted tasks - sometimes.

Sqad, you are of course a special case and should not be lumped in with the modern militant medics. :-)

Your doctor may not have had anyone to see face to face before you but you can bet your boots he was doing something he needed to do - and don’t forget if you're delayed then so is he. Home late again!

I know for sure that on some appointments I've taken up much more of a doctor's time than is allocated to each patient so I never mind waiting. I wouldn’t expect a doctor to wait for me though. That would just delay everyone else and make his home time even later.

By the way, I much prefer telephone appointments if at all possible.

having an early appointment may be a good thing, as you get there before anyone else.

The downside is that may mean "anyone else including the doctor".

But I'm inclined to agree with Barry: if a doctor is running late it may well be because he's devoted more than the supposed 10 minutes to people like me. Chances are it's patients who are the cause of lateness.
