Do You Think This Is Rude?
50 Answers
Daughter was booking a tea party for her sons birthday in a local Cafe which is now hosting them. The proprietor ask what was the name.
Her married name is Hogg, the woman started laughing and said "like as in" and then started making oinking and snorting noises! Daughter just ignored this and just spelled in out for her.
I was horrified by this rudeness but she just shrugged it off and said she was used to it.
I know the children have had some teasing at school because of it but when a grown adult, a supposed business woman, does this to a customer i think its darn rude, dont you?

Darcy, what would happen if the proprietor made fun of a disabled person, someone with a stammer, a very overweight person. I really would book somewhere else and give my reason.

You are not the only one with experience, gness. Children need to learn to deal with life because sometimes it’s not what they want it to be. Get the joke in first and the other bloke’s joke is non-existent. Dragging bottom lips petulantly isn’t the smart way. Getting in first… is.
And here endeth the only lesson.
Bedtime for me. Night all.

//First day of school. Four and five year olds will take that on board with everything else their coping with on that day. Dear god. //
Of course it's rude but the fact is teaching children that it's rude isn't going to stop rude people being rude, so rather than spend your life being offended - or teaching kids to spend their lives being offended - learn to deal with it - and teach them to deal with it. That's protection. Of course you can go elsewhere - that's your prerogative - but unless you can shoulder this sort of thing, that won't stop you being offended the next time it happens - and that means you're the one who's constantly hurting. Doubt appealing to God will help though. We're all on our own with this one.
