When medication should be taken with food, how much food do you need? Would a single banana suffice?

I had a banana for breakfast and I am wondering if I could take 2 Metformin with the banana or if I should wait until lunch.

TIA. x

I take metformin. The script stresses that it should be taken with breakfast. I don't consider single banana a breakfast.
I normally eat a small bowl of cereal as breakfast.
with my metformin i quite often do a 2minute porridge in microwave and chop a banana in it x
Yes, no problem a banana with a cup of coffee or tea is quite adequate. Metformin should not pose a problem even taken with your banana.

Thank you Alice. This is the first time I've heard that it should be taken with breakfast - is this because of other meds that you take?

My script says it should be taken twice daily with food.

Thanks for replies, all.
You need to take medication with food where there is a risk that the medicine will irritate your stomach or cause ulcers. If you can't face food, a glass of milk will do.
I can't remember what medication she took but my mum had one to be taken with food first thing in the morning. She couldn't eat breakfast but dr told her a mug of milk coffee and a couple of digestive biscuits were enough.

I bow down and defer to "Sqad" for his opinion.
