Mastermind Podium

on mastermind, the black chair appears to be on a podium when we are looking at the contestant from their left, but hen they walk back to their seat they dont step down at all. Is it an optical illusion, or some weird podium that's slanted?

It's an optical illusion. The white circle is painted on the floor making it look like a raised dais.

The four contenders this evening were all very good.

And all rather slim compared with the usual Mastermind contestants. And (nothing to do with size) I always wonder what on earth that chair must smell like!
