Can This Be Masking Something I Ought To Get Checked Out?
5 Answers
I have started having intense itching initially at the bottom of my legs on the inside between the ankle and next to it in the thinly covered hollow that is there. It is only on the inside of my ankles. No amount of scratching it makes it go away, in fact it excacerbates it to the extent that it never goes away. This has now progressed to the lower halves of both legs and has also sometimes occurred on the tops of my feet just above the toes. Can this be indicative of some underlying problem? I am borderline diabetic buy not on any medication for that. I am 79.

If there is no rash then the commonest cause would be dry skin, which is very common in your age group. Use moisturising cream of your choice, particularly after showering.
If you have a rash, then describe it.
No underlying sinister condition comes to mind.
