Romantic break?

Can anyone recomend a place to go for a romantic break in England. My partner and i are hoping to spend a night away from our baby, to get some couple time. Its not something we've done since the birth of our little one and not something we'll get to do often, so we want to make sure we go somewhere nice.

I'm not from England, but I've been there many times, and one place that my husband and I found most relaxing and romantic was the Lake District. We stayed at a lovely place in Ravenscroft (wish I could remember the name of it). Wherever you end up, I hope you two have a lovely time!

What are your interests? Or that of your partner? Do you like history, nature, sport, lively cities or quiet villages? No point in sending a surfer to the Peak District or a rambler to Ironbridge Gorge.

I'd be happy to give you a few ideas and if you are in the area check out the Cotswolds, plenty of old inns with log fires and four poster beds, perfect romantic retreat for you both, if that's what you'll be happy with. Burford, Chipping Campden, Woodstock, Broadway and Painswick are all worth looking at.

whereabouts are you from, as that may make a difference to how far you want to travel.

as mentioned before, the lake district is really special, nice country hotel, 4 poster, log fire etc. stratford upon avon is nice, you could take in the theatre, see a shakespeare play. londons good, you could go to a westend show then on for a romantic meal. pembrokeshires nice, saundersfoot and tenby, nice romantic stroll along a deserted golden beach, all wrapped up warm.

big pink cat enjoy your break wherever you go. I remember in the early days of parenthood ANYWHERE is good. Sometimes when we got a night off we'd go 20 miles away, just to feel like we had 'got away'. This saves on any travelling time when your time is precious. Also, if you have high expectations for a 'romantic' day, you may be disappointed as you both just want some time away together, forget the roses and dreamy moonlight. As someone has said, dont go looking for a place 200 miles away, you will spend all the time travelling.

Find a nice hotel or area 20 or 30 miles away and go there.

Maybe choose a nice small historic town nearby and explore the shops and lanes and old buildings.

I recently stayed in a town in dorset called highcliffe. It has both beach and the new forest so a great location. we stayed at a really friendly b&b called the white house.

As previously mentioned, the distance you may want to travel may be a factor. I'm bias but I'd say Lake District.
