My wife has an appointment for this procedure and she is dreading it. She can cope with most things but this is making her very anxious. She has read the leaflet, knows it should be quick but would appreciate hearing from those who have experienced it.
She has had major operations, some whilst awake, and been fine - except when having the drains removed from her abdomen which really distressed her.

I've had one, it was completely painless.

I just get a bit of uncomfortable urine flow after the procedure but this was minimal and I drank plenty of water and it very quickly subsided.

Thank you, LCG.
No worries. It was interesting seeing the inside of my bladder on the TV screen.

Did they find the cause of the problem?
There really was no problem. One singular episode of haematuria and, as the Urologist pointed out, it's a very vascular area and so an isolated incident of blood in your pee is not a cause for concern.

Ah, my wife has no blood in her urine but has suffered constant discomfort for a year now, with bouts of pain daily since May. Her MRI showed a 'fullness' on the left hand side but that means nothing to us
Oh, perhaps they want to confirm or exclude interstitial cystitis then?
Not experienced personally but we had two cystoscopy lists a week when I worked in a day unit. Ladies have it far easier than men less plumbing to navigate. Good local anaesthetic about Half an hour before, and a little bit of a mild sedative before hand in very anxious patients, straight home once you can wee. Really nothing to worry about but tell the nurses if anxiety is a problem, they won't think you are odd.

Thanks, Rowan. LCG, my wife is hoping it isn't that. She is hoping for something straightforward like a stone than can be dealt with and then is over and done.
She is reassured about the sedative although the hospital said her appointment is for 10 minutes, we assume that is the actual procedure
Yes, that's about how long it takes,

Thanks, all, your answers are much appreciated
Best of luck x

My wife has pointed out that I have posted the wrong information.
The ultra sound scan detected the 'fullness' which led to a follow up MRI. She will get the results of the MRI next week and her cystoscopy is booked in for the following week.

I'll bet it was an improvement on 'Harry & Megan' :0)
Anything is better than that, Khandro.
No problem except I had a urine infection afterwards did say it was a side effect .Antibiotics soon cleared it up.
