oh no

My friend asked me for a glass of milk. Later I noticed he hadn't drunk it but i didn't say anything. I have just picked up the glass and the rim is really sticky for some reason. I am mortified!! He must think I am a pig who never does any washing up!! the glass was clean, but stored upside down in a dresser. I didn't think to wash it again when I took it out.
Should I mention this to him when I see him later or just say nothing and risk him thinking I am disgusting??!?!?!
HELP PLEASE!

Maybe if you just mention it in a lighthearted jokey manner, something like "Oh, i went to drink the milk that you left and my lips stuck to the glass. I always forget to rinse them first!" Then again he might have forgotten all about it. I remember a good friend of mine offered to make me a cup of tea after changing her baby's nappy without washing her hands. I said no but I've never held it against her. If it's really bugging you it's better to get it off your chest.
Sorry Scarlett, but I had to laugh! This is one of those situations you instinctively know should be forgotten and passed over, but just like me you are going to let it stew until it keeps you awake at night. I'd phone him and jokingly approach the subject and explain why he got a mouthful of sticky varnish. (Hope he's not been poisoned!) He may think you're a twit, but at least he will know you are not a naff cleaner. :-)
that happened to me recently, only I was the one who was offered the drink... not for a moment did I think the person who offered it to me was a slob who never washes or whatever; I just assumed that, as in my own household, sometimes the dishwasher misses things. (Mechanical dishwasher, not human one.) I'd entirely forgotten about it till I read your Q. I expect your friend has too. Honest, I wouldn't worry about it for another second.
