Not in my family, my great grandma, terrorised her husband, and taught my sister and I rude (ish) songs and poems. And another great grandma 'took in lodgers' when her husband was in the army.
You're right, Rowan. I didn't know my Great-grandmas but the Mayo one cleared off to America leaving her husband with seven children. The Kerry one was a Doctress which is a sort of white witch. No knitting there then. :-)
