Why Do Some People Love A Food That Others Hate?

Do you think that the reason some people like a certain food but others don’t is due more to personal preference or because the food tastes differently to different people?

personal preference. Whether it tastes different to different taste buds doesn't matter: it's still down to personal preference.

I think thsy it's for both reasons. You can't expect that the millions and millions of people who ever lived have exactly the same taste buds. No other parts of the human body are exactly the same from person to person. That being said, I would guess that no matter what a thing tastes like, there will be those who like that and those who don't.

Taste is the brain's interpretation of the sensation so I expect it can be a bit of both. The brain interprets something as revolting, and personal taste says, "No way, thanks", while another's brain suggests it ain't so bad and you could get used to it, and personal taste says," Well, I'll give it a try".

I can think of no reason whatsoever that people actually eat bananas. There is no other food I feel like that about. I have always hated the taste, smell and texture.

I do think it's because of taste buds and food tasting differently. As I have aged I have almost completely gone off sweet food and drinks.

I hate jaffa cakes, chocolate orange anything, something about the combination of chocolate and citrus sets my teeth on edge.

There's a herb, is it coriander/cilantro, which tastes great to some and soapy to others.
It's all a matter of taste.

I too hate chocolate and orange Rowan. Chocolate and lemon sounds just as bad. Dark chocolate and cherries is good though

I honestly fail to see how anyone can eat anchovies, I think they are putrid!

not food but beer or is beer considered a food? i remember when i was young and first tried beer, i thought it tasted vile like seltzer water
but i thought it so popular..hell my dad likes his mates like it, must be something in it besides alcohol, so i tried lot's of varieties, it's definitely as taste thing, as i don;t like wine or whiskey.

But anchovies taste wonderful. I get them from the deli when I can, and use them as snacks.
