What's your opinion on tattoos?

They're not for me personally but some of them showcase outstanding artwork bordering on sheer brilliance.

This is the tattoo that OH declared last week that he wanted...

You'd never guess what team he supports... ;)

How do you feel about tattoos and do you have any of your own?

i think the worst thing someone could get is a celebrity portrait because they could turn out to be a nonce

Tough stickers for morons.
I don’t like them although some can be very artistic,I have two…..my eyebrows ;0)
hate them - my eldest loves them - she only will have black as she says colour can fade and wander - and look awful.

I wouldn't have one for any amount of money. I'm glad OH hasn't had one and I know if push came to shove he wouldn't go ahead and get one.
I mix with musicians, and a lot have them.

Word is, once you have one, you want more.

They would look stupid on me, but I appreciate good art on others.
Nothing like a clean body, men and women ,especially on holiday ,I think it becomes a bit obsessive , they get one and they want more
Yes Andy, I agree
Not for me either. I always wonder what they would look like on 70-80 year old wrinkly skin
Hideous
I’d imagine that delicate long stemmed rose would look like a wilted dandelion Margo :0/

Some people just go totally overboard. I saw a very pretty girl not long ago in a pub garden and her whole arm, chest and neck were plastered in tattoos. It really didn't do anything for her.
Just makes me thing that the people have need of a damn good scrub. Both my 40 yr old sons seem to be in competition and I told them I didn't approve so they got some more. More money than sense. :-)
Okay for jolly jack tars and convicts.

TBH it never came up with my two sons, neither have got them and they never mentioned it to me.
Question Author
I shall tell my son that if he gets a tattoo he'll be disinherited ;)
I wonder if young people fall in love with the tattoos rather than the person.
Question Author
I suppose if you're a tattoo enthusiast it's possible, LadyB.
It's another aspect of culture that makes me realise I am getting old, and things are coming along that are not for me, or people of my age.

When I was growing up, tattoos were on men (never women!) who had been in the forces, and got them done abroad, usually on a drunken night out.

They were usually dedicated to mum and dad, or sometimes a coat of arms, and a swallow on the hand was also common.

Certainly none of the designs we see now - but already, trends are changing.

People who had the solid black certificate designs are probably regretting them now, they are out of fashion, but unlike clothes, the wearers are stuck with them.
Certificate????

That's celtic!!!
Hate them. Some of them look unsightly, especially the sleeves.
