I wake up a lot at night. Sometimes go back, sometimes stay awake for a couple of hours or so around 12pm till 2-3am. Last night was the worst. From 12am until around 4am, it was getting light. Tossing and turning, duvet off and on, turning over pillow cos it gets hot. Thinking and thinking, lots of rubbish going round and round in my head, I have nothing to worry about, although I have a little worry doll under the pillow.. also sniff lavender oil, but how can I slow down my mind? It’s like a filing cabinet full of stuff that needs to be cleared out, thinking about so many little things, going back and forth. Help please! I don’t drink alcohol or caffeine, go to bed around 10.45, up at 8am. Bedroom dark and quiet, window open. I would like to just be calm and drift off easily.

Smurf, try the melatonin! What have you got to lose? If you want to give me your address I'll shove a few in an envelope and you can try them.
My remedy was to get an under-the pillow loudspeaker with a volume control, turned right down with the rdio tuned to BBC World Service. If unable to sleep I'd slip a hand under the pillow, turn up the volume. If you are unable to interest yourslf in the type of topics broadcast, this may not work.
But so many times, a topic came on and if I was interested I'd look forward to hearing it, felt relaxed ... and in the morning was disappointed to find that I'd missed it.
Threr is downside. Some programmes annoyed me and provoked wakefulness.

That is sweet of you ladybird, I don’t mind buying melatonin, can you give me a link? Thanks all. Slept a bit better last night.
Smurf I gave you the link at 19.01 on page 1.
Sounds like you don't need melatonin because you don't having any trouble getting to sleep. You are waking up after every sleep cycle which is about 1 3/4 - 2 hours and you are having trouble falling asleep again.
Sorry, don't 'have'
She can take it when she wakes up after her first sleep cycle and see if it helps her to fall asleep again. Or take it before going to sleep and she might sleep longer than 1 3/4 - 2 hours. All I'm saying is try it, it may not work but you won't know unless you try.
Melatonin never worked for me. You need to get from GP
