Barsel, are you keeping notes on abbeys queries and how many times she's responded? Plenty of others on here do not respond immediately and sometimes not at all...even regular posters like you and I. Maybe so much advice is a lot to take in. I too hope Abbey comes back...with more questions if necessary. Abbey is not here in disguise. Ab Editor did say she'd...

I may be wrong about this Arky but I believe I read that Abbey made a slight change to her name as she thought her account was being hacked.
Perhaps she doesn't realise it's possible to look at what Abers have posted in the past without hacking into their account, it's there for everyone to see.
Jack, I am exactly twice your age and as you age you can sometimes doubt what you hear or read.
I can assure you that when I was your age I was very naive and believed everything I was told or read about.
Now, I seem to have become more doubtful and when things seem strange, as they do in this case, I do find myself wondering if they are true and like a frustrated detective, I do a little digging.
If someone feels that can explain to me why someone comes on here (in more than one disguise) to ask the same questions over and over again without gaining any comeback, I'm all ears.
I didn't know that Miss Marple, about her account being hacked.
However she/he may be looking for some sort of support.

I give folk benefit of the doubt not finger pointing.

It's good to see some of the 'Mods' are still are on the ball.

Abbey is not here in disguise. Ab Editor did say she'd return when hacking issue was resolved.
I like that Arky, Miss Marple.
At least you got the gender right.
My friends sometimes call me Sherlock!
Smooth, I get called many things but never Columbo.
Pasta, I did say that at @16.38.
I seem to think it might have been Naomi that explained that at the time.
As I'm on a PC, it's really easy to find things than if you use other devices.
No need to keep notes, just go down the list of answers, takes no time at all.
Quite often when people compare as you have done by saying
/// Plenty of others on here do not respond immediately and sometimes not at all...even regular posters like you and I.///
it isn't the same. You and I and I suspect many others, don't ask the same questions over and over again. and more often than not, we thank people for their advice and sometimes give an update of what we have done.
Anyway, I've said what I wanted to say because I don't like to think of Abers wasting their time giving answers that might not even be read.
When I was a Samaritan volunteer, it was not uncommon for idiots to waste valuable time spinning fiction for their own perverse amusement.

But the golden rule always was - Treat every Caller and Visitor seriously. Better to be taken in, than doubt a genuine story.

I tend to adopt the same approach on here.

If someone is winding me up for their own reasons, it doesn't take time off my life to give them a few minutes to craft a response.

If it's bogus, I'm unlikely to find out, if it helps, great, but either way, a response is better use of time than 'investigating' a possible history and querying it on here.

If someone is asking several times, does it hurt to answer?

Not really, maybe they just need the comfort of strangers, and I would not like to be someone who denies it.

It could be me one day ...
Arky. Columbo? Never.
Stuart "Mac" McMillan? Oooo be still my beating heart.
Andy, I really do understand what you are saying.
It's quite likely that Abbey does have a mental illness and she feels it isn't normal to feel the way she does about life.
So, she comes on here and asks the same thing over and over again, and she gets replies, some of which are very good, but then she asks the same question a few weeks later.
Perhaps that is part of her illness, and so, just in case it is, I will pull out now and not respond in future.

I lost my job last month and found out that they replaced me before failing my probation
Hi Abbey, thanks for answering me. Sorry to hear about your job. Have you been for any interviews?
Abbey, I must apologise for the thread going off-topic

Do you have qualifications? If not is there anything that you would like to study, something that could give you confidence and help you get another job?

You don't seem to have a problem getting a job, so that is the next challenge, but stick it out. It takes time to settle into a new job, to learn the ropes and during this time you may feel nervous and lost.

Abbey, don't dwell on that. Just concentrate on what you can do now.
Andy...//...maybe they just need the comfort of strangers, and I would not like to be someone who denies it. //
I like that...easily forgotten sometimes.
Ps...thanks for BA Abbey.
