It isn't mentioned as a symptom on the NHS site and there seems to be conflicting information on the internet.

The Express wouldn't normally be the place that I'd look for reliable health info but this seems to make sense:

I cannot see any reason for one to bruise excessively with the most common type of anaemia.........Iron deficiency anaemia.

One can bruise easily with some blood disorders involving the clotting mechanism of blood, but these are not considered to be anaemias.

So NO in my opinion bruising is not a symptom of anaemia.

Thank you
237SJ I've always had a collection of bruises all my life. I think some people bruise more easily than others perhaps? When I was teaching I always had an impressive collection on my thighs (desk height).
agree sqad
the old thing is bruising is to do with platelets...
and this is not an anaemia.

but easy bruising as a new sign - see a doctor, esp a child

Thanks for the answers. Update - just about everything in my blood that could have been tested was tested. Slightly raised ESR but I`m not worried about that. The NHS is good when it works well.

Pp, I wonder if the bruise on the queen may have been from a blood withdrawal ?
