Weight watchers help and inspiration
Ok, yesterday, i decided to take the plunge and go for the weight watchers diet. Now i haven't been to any meetings but i still have all the books etc from when my wife went last year.
My stats are....male, 39 (years not stone !!!), 18 st 9 lbs and i totalled up my points and i should be on around 36 a day !!!!!!!!!
For the last two days, my points total has been around 25 which i'm happy with and after a few modifications, will probably get down to the 22 mark.
Now my dilemma.....i enjoy a once a week pint or 5 up the local. Can i stil carry on doing this on a sunday lunchtime or would it be advisable to either have diet coke or not go at all.
Any help and tips in general would be welcome. I sem to be living on either grilled chicken breast, jacket spuds, baked beans, prawns and lots of fruit and veg.
Your inspiration is most welcome
Andy

I have found the best thing for me is not to give up my treats, but cut down. That way there seems to be less of a desire to binge on something and the diet doesn't become a despicable, almost human thing you want to KILL! KILL! KILL!
I'd suggest just two pints at the local because one is never going to be satisfying.
I've done weight watchers a few times and found that it really worked. If you stick to it. Which I didn't (once the novelty had worn off).
22 points is not enough for a big bloke like you. I was on 24 and I am a woman, I'm not giving my weight away but I wasn't as heavy as you and men always need more.
Also, last time I did it, I still went out drinking on a saturday night and NEVER counted the 'alcoholic' points. Yes, I know I should have but I didn't (I would have used a weeks worth probably). But I still lost weight every week as I stuck to it religiously the rest of the time.
And I seem to remember that you used to be able to 'save' so many points per day to use another time, like my Saturday binge. Can you still do that? If so, saving enough points per day for 5 pints at a weekend wouldn't be much would it?
Hi Andy!
I've been doing Weight Watchers for the past 6 months and I've lost just over three stone! It really is the best diet I've ever donw because nothing is banned (beer etc) so it's really easy to do.
Stick with it, be strict with yourself points-wise but don't forget to treat yourself (but count the treats' points in with your allowance).
Beer is pretty heavy on points. I used to drink pints and pints of the stuff but I've since switched to bottles of Korona. Only 1.5 a bottle. I know it's a bit poncey for a bloke but it's more important to lose the weight. You will have to count up the points but if you save a couple of points every day, which should be easy enough with 36, and you'll have loads left for Korona!
Another tip is to try www.weightwatchers.co.uk. Register on the site and go to communities. There are loads of message boards there that are really motivating and inspiring.
Good luck!

Consider what sort of beer you are drinking. Pils tends to be lower carb and therefore less fattening. Real ales and particularly wheat beers are fat in a glass.
If you can stand the embarrassment, try getting a fizzy mineral water with your beer and drinking that as well, so three pints feels like five in your stomach.
