My step-granddaughter recently turned 21. Everyone gave her money, and she went to London and bought a designer handbag that she could never have afforded otherwise.

It might seem boring but a voucher for somewhere you think she would like, maybe for jewellery or makeup

Money everytime. A long time ago, I was bought vouchers, but didn't shop at any of places they chose. (One was even for a hundred pounds). They are still (now expired) somewhere upstairs. What a waste.

I would definately give money.  I wouldn't have a clue what to buy for a 21 st anyway

p.s. it wasn't a 21st present, it was a totally different occasion, but hated getting vouchers.

I always get vouchers for somewhere I know the person goes, if in doubt I ask a sibling or friend

be wary of vouchers, though, retail businesses do go bust and voucher-holders are unlikely to get their money back.

Vouchers are popular but personally I never get round to spending them, I've had about £100 on various cards in my handbag for over a year.

It really depends what type of girl, for example I'd have liked a luxury item such as something from Jo Malone or a Swarovski piece but many woud hate that. How well do you know her?

Personally, I wouldn't give money.  I`d give something that would remind her of her 21st in future years.

Depending on your budget I would go for something to remember and some cash.

I bought my stepsister a lovely necklase from etsy and gave her cash for her 21st birthday.

I can't get to grips with people spending a significant amount of money on something they THINK the recipient will like. Why not ask what they would like?
