I Wonder Why This Number Is Rising So...

Well, here we go.
I'm grumpy because our credit cards were cloned or hacked, who knows which.
Account cancelled, new cards issued.
I've got mine working but Mrs Oz is struggling with hers.
That makes me grumpy, because?

Not quite the same but just before Xmas my bank debit card, which I use constantly, decided to suddenly stop working contactless whilst in a major supermarket with all my groceries on the conveyer belt - tried just putting the PIN number in, that decided not to work either!! Long story short, I was forced to mortifyingly abandon my shopping and leave empty handed. Tried card at local cash - point, still wouldn't work. After long long call to bank they told me there was no quick fix, not even if I went into a local branch of my bank, but I had to wait for a new PIN number to arrive by post, drive to a cash point and re-set it. Utterly frustrating and drove me nuts!!
Once, I had a card problem in a supermarket. We'd done our shopping, packed it all into a big rucksack, tried to pay. No good. I ran off to try to get cash while Himself waited at the checkout with people fuming in the queue. Of course I couldn't get any cash and we had to unload the shopping in full view of everyone. You can imagine how that looked! Never went there again.
Can be embarrassing when you can't get card to work because of either faulty card or forgot right pin. I hate it when you go into store that says card only then when you get to till they say card reader not working so cash only. Even if I have cash I will often put stuff back out of principle. Can't have it both ways.
I do have a 2nd bank account but only (usually) have a minimal amount in it, and I knew there wasn't enough in it to cover the shopping. Luckily I've learned a hard lesson and have made sure there is always a set amount in the spare bank account now, so I never have to suffer that humiliation again lol.
no cardie no workie
all the supermarkets have seen it. It is not new. They take it in their stride
for the fella who has been cloned - CIFAS is worth a go - pay £25 and the cards are put on tiddly-woo status - the one where they make sure the awd bagga behind the card is the proper fella.
for the new card, make sure there are no extra direct edbits - on a monthly basis !
On my first Christmas visit to my daughter in London a few years ago, I tried to pay by card in Borough Market. The guy had a handheld card reader...and it threw me off. Mind went blank and I couldn't for the life of me get my pin number in the correct order. Card was blocked and it was the weekend before Christmas...banks closed. Felt so, so embarrassed.
Decided to give up alcohol a while ago as it seemed to be reacting with some of the meds that I am on. Bout midnight the other night before MrSmows birthday I just could not sleep and thought a glass of wine mite help. Only wine in house was red and I don't really like red but still...... woke up nxt morn on his birthday feeling like death, and his parents were doing a special evening meal. Managed to get to their house but couldn't stomach an entire drop of food. Felt so so bad that I was poss spoiling the eve by not touching any of the meal that they'd put so much effort into - luckily everyone else managed to get utterly *** so they didn't seem to notice too much lol!
