Pension Sharing Order

My divorce went to court 16 October 2023. Finances agreed and pension sharing order granted. Decree Absolute dated 9 Feb 2024 as there was a delay at court. My case was sitting on someones desk and was overlooked! Pension sharing order dated 16 October 2023. Solicitor emailed me the sharing order on 19 January 2024. I am panicking now as I thought the solicitor was arranging the pension transfer but he's not so I have now applied to get this done. Have I run out of time?  I can;t afford to loose this pension. Thanks

Can you ask your solicitor about this?  It's highly specialised. Sorry I can't give you a proper answer, maybe somebody else will know.

This site advises 4 months, so good idea to phone solicitor and check it is correct and get him to get a move on.

The four months is the time the pension provider has to put the order into effect once they have all the information they need, not for you to make the application.

"If a pension is subject to a pension sharing order, the pension scheme or pension provider has up to four months to implement or carry out the order from the time when they receive all the necessary information. However, they should do it within a reasonable timeframe.

It might be useful to keep in mind that this four-month timeframe will only begin when the scheme has everything they need to implement the pension sharing order.

If there’s a delay, it might be because the scheme is waiting for information from a third party who is not subject to a time limit, for example a lawyer, financial adviser or your ex-spouse or ex-civil partner."

Thanks everyone. Solicitor on holiday. I've now spoken to an FA and they will arrange the transfer for me, I've emailed them my decree absolute and the sharing order and the pension co have given them my details. They have said once they receive all info needed the transfer should take about a week as im keeping it in the same company it's in now. And in the same portfolio. Not sure at the moment what the charge will be to transfer the pension.
