Sorry I can't do links but on the bbc news app there is a report that the TV doctor has gone missing.

He is with his wife on the Greek  Island of Symi and left her on the beach to go for a walk Wednesday lunchtime.  And not been seen since.

Apparently his phone is at their accommodation .  Various rescue services have been deployed. 

I hope he has not had an accident in a remote part of the island.

Thanks bookbinder.  I don't watch daytime television or the One Show which is probably why I don't know him.  I hope they find him soon.  His wife must be frantic with worry.

I enjoyed his series The Victorian Slum on the Beeb a few years ago but I do think some of his medical advice is a bit dubious at times.

He is often in the Mail Online and has published many books about health.

I enjoy his radio 4 'Just one thing' broadcasts. (on how to live longer/better by doing just 1 thing every day).  It doesn't sound good.  Fingers crossed.

Apparently termperatures in the area are 40 deg c. Easy to become dehydrated and disorientated.

There are folk that are well-known to loads of folk but I couldn't tell you what like they look or what they're famous for.

I don't know of him either. I watch very little TV, save for series I fancy and watch on demand.

Anyone missing in such circumstances is worrying for family and friends.

He invented the 5:2 diet - he never practiced medicine though.  He was a banker and took a medical degree then went into the BBC.  I have a couple of his cookbooks although as is typical with cookbooks I have never followed any recipes (they looked nice though)
