I suffered from this for about a year and the only cure I found was pain killers and plenty of bed rest its an awful pain isnt it and I wish you all the best in your search for some respite.
Beware of too much bedrest though. Research has shown that people with an acute attack of back pain who have more than 48 hours bedrest do much worse than those who are as active as they can be within the limits of their back pain. The best strategy is painkillers and keeping active. Watch your posture, especially sitting - support the curve in your lower back with a rolled up towel. Keep changing position, so get up regularly to break up sitting for to long. Physiotherapists and osteopaths can give specific exercises and advice - and by the way, how are you sitting while you're reading this?? There are several sensible back pain guides on the Web, including http://familydoctor.org/healthfacts/117/ , http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/health-info/fitness/b
ack/back.html
, and http://www.medicalmultimediagroup.com/pated/back/b
ack.html
Hope that helps. The majority of back pain attacks resolve themselves in time.
And before Spellmaster jumps on me, I know it should be "too long" and not "to long"!
My dad had severe sciatica last year and he went to a 'Hakeem' Chiropractor (Asian herbal doctor person). He gave my dad a porridge like substance to place on his lower back every night for a number of days, and then when the treatment was over, he literally 'clicked' some cartliges/bones in my dad's back/spine into place. He's been fine ever since. Hakeems' ways are unconventional but I certainly wouldnt knock them.
