... private landlords.

How could disgruntled Tories spin this to show Labour in a bad light?

Fewer rights for landlords = fewer properties to rent.

Have they spun it?

No need to spin it me old china, anyone with an ounce of sense will spot that it will just reduce the numbers of properties for rent. <> 🚀

Tenants already have rights / protections. This is just another protection against landlords who choose to sell up. tThere are some landlords on here who might be able to explain- I'm thinking of Peter Pedant and gulliver but there may be more

PP and gulliver, landlords? PMSL!

This may help explain it.

There's some good aspects for renters but often these things have unintended consequences. It may put off some current landlords from staying in the business and may deter potential landlords. It may also encourage some bad tenants to push things as far as they can.

They will also insist that tennants are allowed to keep pets in private rented accomodation. Crocodiles in the bath, ferets in the kitchen and crazed dogs in the garden.

It won't matter if there are far fewer private rentals to be had.  This government is going to build thousands and thousands of council houses.  Utopia!

they cant really as they had a bill as well - which was ... slower and then so slow it ran out of time

BUT SKS favours just repealing s 21 and letting the courts sort out the mess - No one has said, that if you have a tenant who is in arrears without a hope of paying them, then go for a s.21 and just get them out. ( and lose the arrears which you were not gonna ever get. ) - NB NOT tax deductible.

a s8 application can be defended with any old crap and there has to be a court hearing - and the canny tenant ( who seem to be a lot on Paul Cahmplina's programme) can offer to pay arrears of £50 a month ( intending to pay nothing relaly ) and the whole carousel starts again

..and stop the boats thereby not taking up accommodation illegal migrants would have taken up

er I seem to remember that TTT was once a landlord so carry on pissing !

No spin necessary. Just point out that Labour are to introduce legislation to remove the rights of landlords/ladies to regain their property when they no longer eish to be renting it out.

Surely everyone can see how ridiculously one sided the law already is without giving tenants even more unjustified privileges ?

Everything is geared for the tenant's benefit now.  Never the person who actually owns the property.  My friend who has had rental properties for 30 years is now selling them because the tenants have more rights than he has.

Gonna be a lot of burning rental properties then.

got shot of mine 10 years ago.

Yes, broither got out a couple of months ago.  That is one nice 4 bed family home gone from the market.  Many more will follow.

There's no doubt though there are some bad landlords (like that MP a few weeks ago) and some nightmare tenants. It's just a shame we can't match them all up.

well the gubmint says that the bill will become law half way thro 2025.

As said above labour spectacularly fail to understand unintended consequences.  It will without doubt caus many to sell up meaning less properties for rent and its estimated a 10% rent rise.

The problem with socialists is that they have no understanding of market dynamics because they have no understanding of free market economics.  And we see that continually on here, the far left are even worse.

As soon as the state starts to interfere everything goes south.

All our properties went 10 years ago.  Writing was on the wall then.
