I'm going to buy a copy of the Beano this weekend - just for old times sake.   I don't imagine the characters are nearly as naughty - or as funny - as they used to be - probably not allowed to be now - but I'll have a look anyway.

Any comics you would like to re-visit?

Judy and Bunty.

The Victor, sort them Jerries and Japs right out.

whizzer and chips !

Children's Newspaper

Not comics, but The Broons and Oor Wullie annuals are my favourites - they started as comic strips in The Sunday Post.

I had Dandy and Beano every week.  I sometimes had The Eagle.

How much is The Beano these days?

The Beano and The Topper were my favourite. I loved Minnie the Minx and Beryl the Peril

B.O.P

You'll know what that is if you read it. I've still got a few old issues. It ceased in 1967 I think.

Definitely Bunty, also Jackie becasue I know I read it but can't remember much about it (probably not a comic per se) think it was aimed at young teens and their problems.

I used to read my daughter's Jackie when she wasn't looking.  The problem page was an eye opener

That's what I remember barry - funny how stupid one can be when young, I do remember thinking why does this person called Jackie Fan get her problems published so often 🤣

The Eagle.

Best part was the cutaway drawing in the middle pages.

I once wrote to Cathy and Claire on their problem page in Jackie. I was miffed years later on when I found they didn't exist and the replies were written by any reporter who happened to be in the office.

I also liked Bunty, Judy and Mandy. I can't imagine they're still going.

Film Fun

Radio Fun

I remember writing to Bunty once (haven't a clue what about!). I didn't get my letter published but they sent me a consolation prize of a hair product, probably shampoo.

Whizzer and Chips

Back in the 50's, my dad used to buy me one called The Cisco Kid, a cowboy comic.

Another vote for Bunty. My sister and I had to share it so it was a race to see who got it first.

What about the football one called Shoot! It once featured a photo with the caption: Colin Bell, Manchester United mid-fielder. Errr.........

When very small (3, 4 or 5) 'strip' books of Rupert the Bear or similar.  Then on to Girls Crystal (sister)or School Friend (me) - we read each other's.  Sometimes a 'Girl'.  'Bunty appeared and was tried, but was considered 'common', so disappeared after the 1st 2 issues.

The Beano made an appearance before the Girls Crystal/School Friend, now I think about it.  Much enjoyed.  Saw one recently - pale imitation.

^^ Oh, nearly forgot 'Our Wullie' and 'The Broons' from the weekly paper for my Scottish mum.
