Ok not family, but shes a long time neighbour in her 80's, and we are concerned about her as she lives on her own since her husband died a few years ago, but shes been doing some very strange things.

She will go out to my other neighbours house who is a single mum with two kids and a dog, and my elderly neighbour will randomly take things out of the single mums bin, doesn't seem to matter what it is bagged dog poo, and then put her rubbish in the other neighbours bin.

On occasions she will go round the back and peer into the single mums kitchen window.

My elderly neighbour has a son but lives miles away and we don't have any contact details for him, and he seldom visits.

What would the next step we could do as obviously we are worried about her welfare, as it could be some form of dementia.

Would we need to report the things shes doing to adult social services?

Yes

If you know who her GP contact the surgery, too.

I was hoping to try and contact one of her family first, rather than steamroller in and alert adult social services, but I think its my only option.

barry1010,

I know which surgery she goes to, but I doubt not being family they would even entertain me.

They won't discuss her with you but they will listen to your concerns.
