I want a firm to research my family history, going back. Where do I start ? I don't want to do it myself ? Depends on pricing as well.

Adverts in Ancestry magazine could bea start, but be careful.

Late mum in law shared her maiden name with an infamous hangman.

We could never make the link as much as we researched, Mrs N paid one of these researchers, only to be given information we already knew. No promises given how back they can or will go. No doubt the TV companies pay quite a bit of money to get the proper experts you'll see on the telly.

I just used my relatives - and ancestry.com for the census returns

well worth the effort 

and  yes I found employing someone, who clocked the time, was not good in terms of results.

remember you are doing this for yourself. My brudda commented " by the time the young ones are interested we will have been dead for forty years"

( and last week my niece said " after the children are grown, you know I might take some interest.... ( twenty years))
