//Sir Keir Starmer was accused of “running out the back door like a flipping rat” to avoid scores of angry farmers outside protesting over controversial changes to death duties dubbed “the family farm tax”....The prime minister is not believed to have spoken to any of the protesters outside the event after proclaiming to Welsh Labour members that he was proud of his government’s achievements so far and would not back down over measures in Ms Reeves’s controversial Budget.//

He won't back down - but he won't face the fallout either. Rat or weasel? Either fits the bill.

The farmers now have to talk with the new Governing Labour Party, and their aint many farmer who voted Labour,,,Get it .
I don't think the average city dweller understands what a farm that has been in a family for many generations means.it's like hefted sheep being bound to the land. Generations grow up believing they will see their grandchildren carry on the tradition. Of course there are a few horrendously wealthy 'mega farmer's and huge farming conglomerates but many are small, family businesses, who do ok in good years, but in bad years may struggle to stay afloat, accruing an increasing burden of debt. It's no coincidence that one of the groups most likely to commit suicide is farmers.
The farmers of course are getting it all wrong. Up till now the only people that have ben inconvienienced are themselves or the public. It is costing the farmers and the public tax payer to fund the protests and tractor go slows whilst complicant plod hoovers up the overtime money and trebles all round. What they should be doing is targeting the politicians directly. You know how the greedy gits love their subsidised food and drink in Westminster, Holyrood, and Cardiff? Well start there! Search out the caterers and suppliers and make sure that they cannot get the produce. If the creeps attempt to have it imported then block the route( perhaps the fishermen would like to help cos they are next) then make sure that the booze cannot get to their cosy little private tax payer restaurants and starve the stards out. No need for futile parades that only hurt the wrong people go for them direct.
