Does Anyone Know Anything About Eyes? I Have Occular Hypertension
I am in my 30's and went to the eye hospital for an eyelid issue - turns out all was fine except I have occular hypertension - she emasured with a blue light tool and said it was 24 in one eye and 25 in the other.
I have been using nasal steroids for 15 years to manage my sinus inflammatory condition and the doctor said it could be this but she cant be sure. She wants to review in 6 months
Im now worrying as I have to take the nasal steroid drops ive no choice. Even if I had sinus surgery If still ahve to take them (one ent recommended surgery the other didnt so ive no idea what to do). Just feel a bit trapped knowing meds are possibly damaging my eyes
Has anyone had occular hypertension? I know it can lead to glaucoma

Even if I see ent again I know I'l have to stay on nasal steroid drops as theres no alternative. I did express my concerns about long term use to ent before. In the 15 years of having this Ive tried to come off them many times but within 2 days i am congested, have a horrible feeling of discomfort and polyps start to grow.
I've had it for years, and so did my mum. I take eye drops and get tested once a year. The drops keep my eye pressure low enough not to be a problem. I also take tablets to keep my blood pressure not a problem. I'm old and have got used to my body wearing out a bit. If you are young it's not welcome news. But it can be controlled and you should try not to worry; just follow doctor's advice. It's not a death sentence, and I'm sure you'll be OK. Best wishes.
Thanks Athiest I wonder do the treatments for eye pressure still work if the cause is steroids..
Its just very frustrating as I get angry now and again about having to manage constant synptoms from this sinus disease and now Im getting eye problems due to the treatment from it.
I dont mind going to ent but hate going to my gp. I rememebr working on wards during covid and teh masks were making my breathing worse. I went to my gp and this nurse with an attitude was there instead she kept saying 'its a nuisance, I mean you'l have it for the rest of your life love' saracasticly. Honestly no one takes sinuses seriously
