When I wrote a list of presents I wanted from Santa, my mum then told me to fold it up a throw it on the coal fire, and it would go up the chimney to Santa????

My dad was cleverer than that; we had a wooden fire surround and he said it was safer to tuck it behind it. It easily screwed off when little boys are in bed.

But ruddy hell, I spent all that time writing, told to keep it nice a neat, fold it nicely, then ruddy burn it. Going to see her next week and have it out with her once and for all. <:0(

Did you not know that all mums have eyes in the back of their head, so yours would be able to see you writing your list even though she didn't appear to be looking at you.

the  draft of a fire is great enough then a small bit of paper can be sucked up without touching the grate

My mum just rang me and said she's written her shopping list ready for the morning, I said well fold it up and flush it down the loo, it should reach a care worker. <:0)
